21 Day Fix!

So... I've decided to get back to a healthier way of life. To kick start this lifestyle change and to gain some momentum I decided to try out the 21 Day Fix. My sister is a coach and really encouraged me to try it out. The challenge pack came with Shakeology meal replacement pouches, your pre-measured food containers, some workout DVDs and a bunch of diet, exercise and encouragement booklets.

The general idea is that you do a 30 minute workout every day, and based on your calorie intake (math included) you are allowed a certain number of containers every day- Veggies, Fruits, Protein, Carbs, Healthy fats and oils. It's pretty flexible and it's a TON of food.

Right now I'm on Day 14- Two weeks in. I've lost 7 pounds and I can definitely see a change in my body and even in my cravings and eating habits. It's been hard, but that's why they call it a challenge. I'm happy with the results I'm seeing so far, especially since it's only been 2 weeks!!

If you want more information about the 21 Day Fix or just eating clean in general, please let me know and I can put you in contact with my sister!

Urban Float!

I saw a Groupon for Urban Float Sensory Deprivation tanks and I thought I would give it a try. I'm a very anxiety-ridden person by nature, but with surgery and job search and planning for our upcoming trip to Vegas, I've been EXTRA stressed out. I figured now would be a good time to use that Groupon!

The marketing for Urban Float says that "Resting in this unique environment creates profound changes within the mind/body system and actually improves the overall function of the brain and central nervous system." It also claims to help healing, sports performance, reduce stress, enhance creativity, etc. This all sounded great to me!

You have to call ahead or book online for an appointment time. I called yesterday and they were able to get me in today. You just show up, no swimsuit or anything required. The lady at the front desk was very cheerful and explained the process to me. You go into the room, strip down, put in the ear plugs (provided), shower, get in the pod, close it up, turn out the lights, and the music will play for 10 minutes and then it will be silent and then the music will come back on for your final 5 minutes. The whole session was for 50 minutes. Sounded simple enough.

I found and put in my earplugs and then got naked:

The shower was very nice and their bath stuff smells really nice:

Then, it was time to get in the pod, I was a little nervous:

It was kinda hard to get my mind to just unwind, but it was a really nice feeling being in the water and just floating. I turned out the light, but I'm SUPER scared of the dark so I ended up turning the light back on after a few minutes. I closed my eyes and I'm pretty sure I fell asleep for a little bit because after a little while I heard the music come back on and it was time to get out.

After getting out, you are super salty because the water is SO full of Epsom salts.

Overall, I had a great experience and it was really, really nice to be in complete silence. It was also really relaxing to just float around in warm water and not have to think about anything for an hour. A couple of tips I would recommend: If you have skin sensitivities, bring your own soap, shampoo, etc. Also, bring a comb with you to take care of your hair when you get out of the shower. Dress comfy, it was really nice to throw sweats on after the whole thing and continue the relaxation vibe. Oh yeah! Go to the bathroom right before you go in so you don't have to think about going while you're in the tub. I mean, unless you want to sit in your own pee. Ew.

Product Review: 3D Fiber Lashes

So, I've had a few people ask me about these 3D Fiber Lashes and a couple people invite me to their online parties and I looked at all of the photos and watched the YouTube video and decided to give it a try.

I ordered through my friend Christi, she set up a Facebook page and was promoting the lashes and that's when I decided to try them out. I ordered online through a link she provided and the two-piece kit was $29 plus shipping. When I ordered, they sent an email saying the product was on back order and that it would be sent out in a couple weeks.

I waited patiently, and on the day they were supposed to arrive I received an email saying there was a glitch in their system and my shipment was sent to the wrong address. Also, the product was back ordered (again) and I would have to wait a few more weeks.

After all of this run around, coupled with a rude email response to a customer service inquiry that I made, put me off about this company and the product. I was ready to write off the whole experience and was really put off by the whole thing. I placed my order on February 28 and just received it today, March 24.

So, I was actually pleasantly surprised when it actually showed up today! The packaging is very nice, the two-piece kit comes in a cute little case, it looks like a glasses case. The instructions tell you to start with a coat of your own mascara, which I have been using Smashbox Full Exposure. Then you add a coat of the "Transplanting Gel" that looks like regular mascara, then a coat of the "Fiber Lashes" which is a little awkward to apply.

I was not expecting to be as pleased with the results as I am. But, the evidence is in the photos.

The product is not a substitute for a false lash strip. However, for an everyday glam look and just an awesome full, long lash it's pretty incredible! I'm going to continue using it and see how it incorporates into my day to day makeup routine.

Post-Surgery Wrap Up

I'm still in pain and on pain meds, so forgive me if I make this short and sweet.

I wanted to update y'all with my surgery progress and some early results as I just got them in this morning.

The procedure itself went well, it was pretty quick and relatively easy from what I understand.

The doctor found a giant polyp and removed it, and then sent it into pathology for testing.

Yesterday and today have been rough for pain management. Pretty severe cramping and it's very difficult to stand for any extended amount of time and even thinking of stairs makes me want to cry. Thankfully they've given me pain meds and they just make me sleepy.

This morning I received an awesome message from my doctor:

This is awesome news because there was a big, overwhelming fear that this may have been cancer that we were dealing with and it's a HUGE relief that it was benign.

I'll update more in a few days when I'm feeling better, but wanted to share all of the good news with you all. <3

Surgery Scheduled!

Just found out that I am scheduled for surgery next Tuesday, March 18th. This is a little scary, but altogether very exciting! I have uterine fibroids and my new doctor (that I like very much) said that they need to be removed as soon as possible as she thinks that is what is causing most of my pain and discomfort.

The procedure I'm having this time around is minimally invasive and should be done in 1-2 hours. I'll be put under anesthesia for the surgery, so Brian is taking the day off to help me out and drive me around.

Surgery is never fun, but I'm so happy to finally be making forward movement and taking action rather than taking more and more pills that make me feel worse!

Out with the old...

I love to shop. I love vintage and vintage-inspired things. This means I have too much stuff!!

So, I'm going through my spare bedroom which is packed to the gills with lots of clothes, shoes, accessories and STUFF and I'm going to get rid of a ton of it. I'm having a little get together with some of my close pinup friends for a little swap and shop at my house and then anything left over will be listed on ebay!

Since I've lost weight, a lot of this stuff doesn't fit me anymore. I also have stuff that I've done photo shoots in and I don't plan on wearing again, so I think it's time to just get it out of the house. There are a lot of good quality pieces and I do love them all. I just start to feel bad when I have so much stuff that I can't even keep organized so then I forget about some really special pieces because they get lost in the mix.

Once I have all this stuff out of the house I can focus on turning the extra bedroom into my own boudoir/closet/dressing room. <3

It's all about getting rid of the stuff I like to appreciate the stuff that I love.

Here are a few things I'm getting rid of:
